Holy Batcow ??

The few of you who know me here, know that I lived in Austin, Texas for several years.  I adored Austin and very much regret leaving.  The Austin motto is "Keep Austin Weird" and that is so very very true, but was definitively one of the things that I loved about the city.

I was reading some websites this week and ran across this article about Austin and the fact that CowParade is back.  For those of you who do not know about CowParade, it is these fiberglass life-size cows that are given to local artists in a particular city to decorate, paint or adorn however they wish.  The painted cows are then displayed throughout the city as objects of art.  After a certain time, they are  auctioned off and the proceeds go to a local charity.   Anywho, the awesome part about this particular press release was that they have created "Batcow".

Austin is home to millions of bats.  The largest colony of these bats live under the Congress St/Ann Richards Bridge in downtown Austin.  In the summer on any given night, hundreds of people gather near the bridge to watch as the millions of bats fly out from under the bridge and dance in a whirlwind of wings as they feed on mosquitoes.

Well artists, DJ Stout, Stu Taylor & Faith Schexnayder have created Batcow.  As you can see from the pictures, it is a life-size cow that is wrapped in black batwings.  What makes this so awesome is that they have suspended it from the Congress Street bridge.  LOVE IT!!   Keep Austin Weird and Have No Fear ... Batcow Is Here!
