While man sits atop the food chain, suddenly his cruelty to animals is noticed and recognized. Unfortunately it is after he has helped to evolve another animal to the same intellectual status as himself and perhaps beyond. If you think that the movie is simply a bunch of apes who finally outsmart man, you would be very wrong. The CGI for "Rise" is amazing and at many times stunning, along with the writing and story, you come to know the characters including those of the ape variety. Caesar, the first intelligent ape of his species delivers such an emotional and intelligent performance that if at all possible, although I think rules do not permit it since he is only CGI, should be nominated in the upcoming awards season. Throughout history, mans greatest threat has always been man, and this movie proves it.
