82% of Americans Disapprove of Congress

In a new CBS News/New York Times poll, they find that 82% of Americans disapprove of the job that the U.S. Congress is doing.  With the past couple of weeks of posturing, lamenting and downright holding America hostage to get what they wanted, they have done way more harm to their reputations. Also another very interesting fact is that this is for both sides of the aisle, for all of congress!!  The poll is a very very interesting read and says a lot for the way that America is currently thinking.  A few facts near the bottom of the poll, I feel are very important and should be pointed out;

1.  75% of Americans do not think that some members of Congress should be re-elected.
2.  71% of Americans think that the prolonged negotiations on the debt ceiling has worsened the image of America.
3.  While the debt ceiling agreement did not include an increase in revenue, by two to one Americans support raising taxes on the wealthiest.
