A few days ago New Jersey governor Chris Christie said that he would veto any bill that came to his desk for marriage equality and said that the issue needed to be put on a ballot for the people of New Jersey to decide. The New Jersey lawmakers fired back stating that they were not going to back down and that 'you don't put civil rights issues on a ballot'.
