Matt Bomer Is Going Gay In 'Normal Heart'

Matt Bomer, the star of the hit television show 'White Collar' is making a huge crossover to the much larger movie screen this year. He is already set to play a male stripper in Stephen Soderberg's 'Magic Mike' with Tatum Channing, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McCaunaughey and Joe Manganiello. Now he has signed on Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of "The Normal Heart'
Bomer will play New York Times fashion writer Felix Turner who falls in love with political activist Ned Weeks, said to be played by Mark Ruffalo. Their gay relationship will be at the heart of what was Larry Kramer's personal take on the early days of the AIDS crisis.
Also already signed on to co-star in the movie is Alec Baldwin as Weeks' brother, Julia Roberts as Emma Brookner, the doctor fighting both the epidemic and indifference and Jim Parsons, as a boy who helps Weeks found the GMHC (Gay Men's Health Crisis). With Ryan Murphy at the helm and such a huge cast, this movie has the potential to be epic.

The website Queerty, which originally posted the news of this movie, asks the question if it is hypocritical of Bomer and Parsons to play gay roles when neither have publically came out even though their sexuality has been widely reported. I don't feel this hypocritical at all. I don't feel it any different as a straight man playing a gay role, which in the past there have been many. Why as a gay society do we feel that we must force people out of the closet, especially those in the public eye? As long as they are supportive of the fight for equality, I don't care whether they are gay, bi or straight as long as they help in the fight. What do you think??

  1. Matt Bomer is one of the biggest talents in entertainment now but his private life is none of our business if he so chooses. If he wasn't so hot,no one would care if he was out.
