Lady Gaga announced yesterday that she is launching the Born This Way Foundation, a nonprofit organization that will be focusing on youth empowerment and issues such as self-confidence and anti-bullying. Her partners in this endeavor will include the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
"Lady Gaga will help empower and give voice to young people who find themselves overwhelmed, under-supported, disconnected, isolated, bullied or struggling," says Dr. Bob Ross, the CEO And president of The California Endowment. "This brand of leadership is sorely needed in today's world.
She along with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta will personally direct the organization. Lady Gaga said in a statement yesterday;
"Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment."
She has already had a personal one on one with President Obama where they spoke regarding anti-bullying issues. It is great to see that she is now taking it a step further by creating a foundation that will help to focus hers as well as many others efforts.
The foundation will be officially launched sometime next year and an advisory board should be announced soon.
